Nigerian military confirmed on Thursday, October 14, that the leader of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) jihadist group, Abu Musab al-Barnawi, is dead.
“I can authoritatively confirm to you that al-Barnawi is dead. As simple as that. He is dead and remains dead,” Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor told reporters, without giving further details about the death of the commander of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) jihadist group.
Nigeria’s military has in the past claimed to have killed jihadist commanders, only for them to reappear later. Yet no confirmation have been received from ISWAP.
