PAKISTAN : Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) raid in Bannu District, Hostage situation

At least three members of the security forces were injured following the gunfire. According to local sources, at least two dozen armed militants of the extremist group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) stormed into the building in a bid to free their members who were detained in the compound. They succeeded in freeing several suspected extremist militants who were undergoing interrogation, and taking control of part of the building. Some 15 people were held inside the building, which was the surrounded by Pakistani security forces. Violent clashes took place in the area after the arrival of reinforcements.
